Rhodophyta- Mastocarpus stellatus

The organisms belonging to the Phylum Rhodophyta are commonly known as the “red algae”.  These protists are multicellular and marine-dwelling, but also found in tropical zones and deeper in the ocean.

They reproduce through alternation of generations.  Their cell walls contain carrageenan, but physically these protists have no centrioles or flagella.

Examples of organisms found in the Phylum Rhodophyta are commonly known as red algae.
